Knowing AI's Place
Agents are among the most promising technologies in the world. Yet there's a growing graveyard filled with agents built recently that nobody ever wanted and nobody uses. Where do agents succeed and why have so many failed? This course will help you build an intuition for the types of opportunities where agents--and AI solutions generally--are the right choice. You likely have some of this intuition already, but the course will explore realms and share mental models that you may not have considered.
It will explore:
~ Which types of problem spaces are suited to deterministic and non-deterministic solutions
~ How to understand that value of an automation
~ How to determine agent quality threshold in different problem spaces
~ How to gauge quality for non-deterministic software solutions generally
~ How users react differentially to different types of automations, based on task types
~ What tasks agents can and can't do today--and how that might change in the medium-term
Coming out of the course, you'll be able to look at a workflow or problem space and predict how well an agentic solution will work.
